Diverse opportunities

Retail is growing in the Grey-Bruce economy, with over 1,400 businesses in 2009 ranging from large shopping centres to boutique downtown shops in communities throughout the Counties. Nearly 11,000 residents in Grey and Bruce Counties are employed in the retail sector (12.1%), second only to manufacturing.

The largest numbers of retail businesses are food and beverage stores (193 businesses). Miscellaneous retailers which include florists, office supplies stores, gift stores, used merchandise stores comprise the second largest number of businesses (177 businesses).
